The Taradale and District Walking Group

The Taradale and District Walking Group is a friendly supportive diverse community group who have been promoting health and companionship since they formed in 1984. The walking group also coordinates affordable weekends away and provides and promotes friendship, camaraderie and exercise.

When founded, the Taradale Walking Group walked with the Kyneton Cobaw Club before establishing their own Wednesday roster and becoming the Taradale Walking and Landcare group in 1994. The large and diverse membership inspired a change of name to the Taradale and District Walking and Landcare group in 1997 since which time, the diversity of member interests has resulted in a further change of title to the present Taradale and District Walking Group Incorpoarated which has applied since 2008.

Members of the Taradale and District Walking Group enjoy a regular 5-6km walk followed by a morning tea in the beautiful bush so plentiful in this area. During the 20year history of the club members have been involved in many community activities including; weed and gorse reduction, tree planting, the creation of the fairy dell (cnr Lyell & Dela Beche Streets Taradale), enabling the opening and use of the Coliban Main Channnel Walking Track, assisting with the improvement and maintenance of the Taradale Mineral Springs Reserve and undertaking the Town Walks Project which included plotting, clearing, making accessible & establishing signage for 7 tracks in the immediate Taradale area
